Bird "sew" cute

Alrighty then... Today was a day filled with accomplishments! I succesfully waxed my own eyebrows (successfully meaning, I still have two eyebrows intact, in one full section each) lol. Due to the budget constraints around here lately, I have had to bypass my wonderful hairdresser. Seeing her will be one of my top priorities when things improve. =)
My awesome brother, who seems to spoil me rotten every Christmas, bought me a Singer Simple sewing machine this year. I started to play with it yesterday, but being I have never filled a bobbin, or threaded a sewing machine in my whole life, things didn't go so well. I shut the light off in the craft room, and came back to it today. After taking the bobbin assembly completely apart, to retreive the numerous threads that were wound around it (yikes) I managed to get er put back together, and sewing even. =)
I pulled off this cute little card (go easy on me, I'm a newbie) and for the most part even managed to sew in a straight line. I don't think the picture does it justice, because I think it is way cute in person. I love it, and it doesn't even have a pun on it!!
Recipe: bird stamp from Inkadinkadoo - Birds Galore, hello stamp from CHF Rummage Bin set - Ledger Me, S.U. Soft Sky and Blue Bayou card stock, Creamy Caramel and Soft Sky inks. S.U. grossgrain ribbon, a random button, twine, and patterned paper from SandyLion. I used my Doily Lace punch for the frilly little trim, and machine sewed... yes, I said Machine Sewed the ribbon and card pieces together.
I feel "sew" proud right now. (I had to get a pun in somewhere...) Mostly because I managed to tackle my machine issues all by myself, when it was probably only the fourth time in my life I've touched one. Booya!!

Have I Toad you?

Another "Punny" card, surprise, surprise. lol. This one seemed to take forever, just couldn't get it to come together, but I think it turned out cute. I was afraid I was over-doing it with all the red, but afterall, Valentine's Day IS right around the corner. =)

Recipe: Old Olive, Real Red, and River Rock inks from S.U. and Ranger Frayed Burlap Distress ink,White cs and Real Red cs from S.U. the frog, mushroom and sentiment stamps are all from the S.U. stamp set Unfrogetable, and the Soft Swirls background from S.U. I also used the new shape cutting template from Creative Memories to cut out and mat the focal image. No little toad would be complete without the beady little craft eyes.

I have the perfect stamp to put on the back of this card too, it has a little frog image, and says Toadily handmade!! Hope you like it!!

Berry Much

Wow... Can you believe it? A post two days in a row... lol. I've been busy.

I'm not positive if I love this one, but I thought it turned out cute. The strawberries are from the Paper Trey ink set My Punny Valentine, which is just adorable, and perfect for this time of year. One of my old bosses told me once that I had Forster's Syndrome, which is the frequent and uncontrollable use of puns... (or something like that). Anyway, if I see a "Punny" stamp set, chances are I'm just going to have to have it. He must be right. =)

Recipe: My Mind's Eye pink and patterned papers, S.U. Old Olive cs and ink, S.U. Chocolate Chip cs, S.U. Basic Brown and Regal Rose inks. S.U. Scalloped circle punch, Ranger Tattered Rose Distress Ink, Fiskars Threading Water punch, and the My Punny Valentine set from Paper Trey Ink.

I used my paper piercing tool and template to punch holes (which really don't show in the photo) along the top behind the strawberries, and connected them using a brown colored pencil, to give the faux sewing look, and did the same on the strip of olive, using a white colored pencil. I aged the edges of the berries using the distress ink.

I just love the new border punches they are coming out with. So cute!! Must get more!! lol.

I Chews You

Alright, alright... The slacker finally updated her blog!! It's about time, huh? I'm gonna... I'M GONNA keep up with it this time. =) Things have been kinda rough around here the last couple of months, so what better way to relax then to go spend some quality time in you craft room, ay?

Recipe: S.U. Pink Pirouette CS and ink, S.U. Basic Brown CS, S.U. Crackle background stamp, S.U. Heart stamp from Small Sayings set, Beaver from DCWV Green Stack, S.U. Scalloped Circle Punch, and Creative Memories Circle cutting system.

I went to Joann's a couple of weeks ago, and I saw this little beaver and I JUST HAD TO have him. He is in a paper stack from DCWV, that's called the Green Stack. The rest of it is pretty cute too, but the Beaver single-handedly made the sale. I resisted the temptation at full price, but my co-worker just had to tell me on Wednesday that they had all their stuff at 40% off. Thanks to a good sale, I get to show all of you, just how cute he is!!

This one is a square card, I think it's all easy enough to figure out how I put it together. A couple of notes though: I cut out the beaver using my circle cutting template. You probably can't see it real well, but I used some Pink Pirouette ink to color in his belly a little (it was off white) just to tie the card together a bit better. I typed the font using my computer, and probably my favorite element of the card, (besides the beaver of course) is the little bite marks I made using just the edge of my scalloped circle punch. Although it's not pictured, I typed the inside sentiment too, using the same font, cardstock and brown ink, and it says "Wood you be my Valentine?"

Hope you like him!! I'm not going to want to part with this one. He's just too cute!!
